LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has prevented Mohsin Naqvi, the interim Chief Minister of Punjab, from inaugurating development projects in the province.
According to sources, the decision came after Justice Shahid Karim heard a plea filed by Haroon Farooq to counter smog in Lahore.
The judge warned that anyone caught cutting trees would be punished, as smog poses a significant threat to the residents of Lahore.
As a result, the court prohibited the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) from cutting trees.
Justice Karim also noted that the interim CM had inaugurated the Kalma Chowk underpass without authorization.
He questioned why the caretaker CM was in a hurry to inaugurate the underpass when it was still under construction.
Moreover, the court denied a plea to extend the time for keeping bakeries open by one hour during Ramadan and summoned the Planning Commission chairman, issuing him a contempt notice, and summoning the Punjab chief secretary and P&D chairman in a personal capacity.
