LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday granted the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request to end the inquiries into Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and to revoke the order freezing his property.
As per the sources, Rana Sanaullah’s appeal was considered by a two-judge LHC panel made up of Justice Ali Baqir Najafi and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural.
Besides, Amjad Parvez, Rana Sanaullah’s attorney, appeared in court on his side while the NAB was represented by special prosecutor Faisal Raza Bukhari.
NAB informed the court in writing that it would revisit the situation following a legislation revision as the property of the petitioner was not permitted to be probed under the NAB Amendment Act, said Amjad Parvez.
The petitioner was detained by the NAB after being accused of creating both movable and immovable property but NAB is of the view that these assets were acquired through drug revenue, according to the attorney.
Furthermore, he maintained that NAB could not look into the same matter if it was pending in the drug court, since the approval of the drug court was required before NAB proceeds investigation.
The court in return accepted the plea seeking to revoke Rana Sana Ullah’s property and directed the relevant authorities to act accordingly.
