NAB to Close Assets Case of Rana Sanaullah Worth Over Rs.400 Million

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has begun the process of concluding the income beyond means investigation on Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The Lahore High Court recently granted Sanaullah’s request for the termination of the NAB’s assets beyond the means of investigation. As a result, the agency started the procedure to end the investigation, according to sources.

As per the details, following the discovery of properties worth more than Rs. 400 million that belonged to the PML-N Punjab president (Rana Sanaullah) and ensuing investigation, NAB escalated the inquiry into an investigation in 2020.

Sanaullah allegedly had property which included a farmhouse, a house in a posh area, multiple plots, and stores in Lahore and Faisalabad in addition to having an investment in a housing society. NAB had also charged him with acquiring real estate in the name of his kin.

NAB attempted to establish a case based on Sanaullah’s stated property notwithstanding his claims that he had no fake bank accounts or Benami properties.

It is to note here that he was cleared last week in a drug case brought against him while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was in power and had been detained by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in July 2019.
