LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of sanitation in the provincial capital.
The spokesperson stated that with the dedicated staff and advanced machinery, LWMC is undertaking daily operations for the cleanup and maintenance of 944 major and minor roads across the city.
To further enhance the cleanliness of the city, LWMC CEO has extended the hours of mechanical sweeping and washing during the day shift.
The process of mechanical sweeping and washing will continue on the main roads until the noon shift.
LWMC spokesperson also added that the recent mechanical washing and sweeping activities covered prominent areas such as MM Alam Road, Canal Road, Khayaban-e-Firdousi, Khayaban-e-Jinnah, Gulberg Town, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Liberty Market, Punjab Assembly Road, The Mall, Wapda Town roundabout, and adjacent areas.
Additionally, the cleaning of commercial markets is being ensured during the night shift.
In the night shift, dedicated teams focus on cleaning commercial markets, while mechanical washing of main roads continues.
Moreover, special attention is given to washing and cleaning pedestrian bridges during the night shift operations.
LWMC CEO, Babar Sahib Din, provided insights into the ongoing efforts, stating that 1,000 kilometers of roads are mechanically washed daily, and 80 kilometers are manually scraped.
To carry out these tasks, LWMC has deployed 40 mechanical sweepers, 10 mechanical washers, and over 200 workers for daily mechanical washing and sweeping operations.
