LWMC Warns 18 Housing Societies for Illegal Dumping

LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has issued a warning to 18 private housing societies for illegally dumping waste in the provincial capital.

The crackdown was initiated by LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din, who ordered his team to take strict action against the illegal dumping of garbage on the roads.

According to the details, the LWMC enforcement team conducted a special operation against private societies involved in the illegal dumping of waste and issued challans against waste burning and illegal dumping.

Besides, final warnings were also given to 18 housing societies involved in this practice.

The LWMC CEO has directed officials to register FIR and refer to the police for future violations, stating that enforcement teams were active in the field round-the-clock.

Plus, during the last month, they had completed inspections of more than 12,000 places, issued 2,119 challans for littering and illegal waste dumping on the roads, and imposed fines of Rs4.24 million for violations of the Local Government Act.

The crackdown on illegal dumping of waste in Lahore is part of the LWMC’s efforts to ensure a clean and healthy environment for the residents of the city, the CEO added.

He also urged all citizens and organizations to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from such activities that harm the environment.
