Mayor Irked Over Inauguration of Parking Plaza by KP Govt

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was slammed by Capital Metropolitan Government Mayor Zubair Ali for launching the Namak Mandi Parking Plaza in his absence.

According to Mayor Zubair Ali, the KP government has started using dishonest tactics claiming that the provincial administration was taking credit for the project, even though the Capital Metropolitan Government had paid the entire cost of Rs. 500 million for the project.

He also stated that the Capital Metropolitan Government controlled the land in Namak Mandi where the parking plaza had been built and that it had also provided funding for the endeavor.

Besides, he also claimed to have met with the minister and secretary for local government and urged that the Capital Metropolitan Government and KP government jointly inaugurate the parking plaza.

Furthermore, the mayor argued that, in order to foster cordial ties with the KP government, he had invited the chief minister and the LG minister to the joint inauguration of the parking plaza. However, the provincial government opened the facility without even prior intimation.

The mayor also highlighted that even a year after local governments were set up, the KP government remained unwilling to transfer funds to them.
