KARACHI: Malir Development Authority (MDA) has recently laid off over 100 employees from their jobs.
The employees worked in various departments, including engineering, public housing, the land department, and the encroachment cell.
The affected employees include sub-engineers, clerks, and the office in charge. The move has been criticized, with PPP MPA Raja Abdur Razaq Baloch calling it “cruelty” in the current economic situation.
The MPA also added that the issue should be raised before Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Moreover, this follows a previous decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to reinstate 16,000 previously laid-off employees on humanitarian grounds.
Furthermore, those in positions from BS-1 to BS-7 will be restored to their original roles.
At the same time, those in BS-08 to BS-17 will be required to undergo a commissioned test to ensure transparency in government organizations.
