Ministry of Housing Seeks Over Rs. 9,180 Million for FY 2022-23

ISLAMABAD: To fulfill the Ministry’s and affiliated departments’ demands for the current fiscal year 2022–2023, the Ministry of Housing and Works has requested a grant of Rs. 9,179 million.

As per the details, although the budgetary allocation was previously prepared and authorized in June 2022, an official in the Ministry informed that the Finance Division had allotted an amount of Rs. 5,915 million as part of the current fiscal year’s austerity measures.

According to the source, the Finance Division previously lowered the financial allocation by Rs. 55.163 million and placed austerity measures on it.

Furthermore, the Finance Division had already slashed the budget while making allocations. Hence, no funds had been surrendered to Finance Division and all the funds allocated during 2021-22 in relevant heads were utilized by the general section.

“Pak PWD has also begun sending reminders to the allottees of government accommodations in Sector I-9/4 concerning payment of electric meter bills for water motors placed at residential blocks,” the source stated.

The sources claimed that the Finance Division had allocated money in the appropriate users’ heads of accounts for the payment of utilities and that users were responsible for paying the utility bills for all residential accommodations, including hostels, rest homes, and judicial residences.
