ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) was informed on Tuesday by Shoaib Sadal, Head of the Minority Rights Commission, that Rs. 27 billion worth of properties belonging to minorities had been recovered from illegal possession.
According to sources, the matter was taken up during a hearing of a suo moto case concerning the rights of minorities.
Sadal also informed the two-judge bench, led by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, that several provincial governments were uncooperative in returning assets and requested that directives be issued to them and their police chiefs.
The Commission has submitted its response to the court, according to Sadal.
Besdies, Justice Ijazul Ahsan stated that the court would hear all respondents’ answers simultaneously.
