Motorway M-6 Scam: NAB Recovers Heavy Sums of Money

KARACHI: According to Ashiq Kaleri, the personal secretary of former provincial law minister Zia Lanjar and accused in the Motorway M-6 scam, a team from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), recovered a sizable quantity of graft money from Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

As per the details, after the lead given by accused Ashiq Kaleri, an investigating team from the NAB Karachi conducted a raid in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, from where Rs. 300 million were retrieved by authorities.

The sources claim that the NAB team also recovered precious vehicles, including brand-new Fortuner, Toyota Corolla, and Audi.

During the inquiry, Ashiq Kaleri also pointed out properties worth Rs. 400 to 500 million, while NAB was also able to recover Rs. 140 million on the accused’s disclosure.

Additionally, Rs. 400 million worth of plot files have also been retrieved, according to authorities.

The sources confirmed that NAB has also collected money from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and the verification of documents and other items recovered is in progress.

According to reports, Ashiq Kaleri is now being trialed in the case and has been given 6 additional days of physical detention by a court in Hyderabad.

It is worth noting that the M6 Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway land acquisition fraud is being investigated by the NAB for which Rs. 4.09 billion had been made available by the National Highway Authority for land acquisition.
