NAB Court Disposes of Bail Plea of Accused in Eden Housing Scam

LAHORE: On Wednesday, an accountability court of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced the verdict on a bail request made by Murtaza Amjad, one of the defendants in the Eden Housing fraud case.

As per the details, Judge Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad of the Accountability Court heard the bail request as the accused appeared before the court when his temporary bail ran out.

Furthermore, the investigation officer for the NAB responded to a court question by saying that NAB did not demand that the accused be held in custody by claiming that Anjum Amjad, the accused’s mother, had negotiated a plea bargain with the bureau on behalf of all accused.

Additionally, Murtaza’s attorney claimed that while the first installment of Rs.1 billion would be provided in mid-December, Rs. 1 billion had already been given to the bureau when the plea bargain was approved.

The court then decided Amjad’s request for bail in light of the investigating officer’s testimony.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Amjad, Anjum Amjad, and their other children were named as the accused by NAB after they filed a reference for Eden Housing Society as NAB claimed that the accused stole millions of rupees from thousands of victims.
