ISLAMABAD: The newly built Margalla Avenue in Islamabad, which is yet to be formally inaugurated, has developed cracks, raising questions over the quality of construction.
Although the road has been opened for traffic from G.T. Road to D-12, it is still incomplete, including a 700-meter portion that needs to be completed.
Member Engineering Syed Munawar Shah of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) explained that the development of cracks on newly built roads is a routine matter and that the cracks in question will be redone within a few days.
It is worth noting that the 10.4-kilometer-long Margalla Road from G.T. Road to D-12 was built by Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and cost around Rs3.9 billion.
Furthermore, another portion of around 5km is being constructed up to E-11, where an interchange is also being built by the CDA through another contractor.
