ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the hiring of Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab (ECSP) to merge Margalla Avenue with the Motorway (M-1) by constructing a 3.4-kilometer road segment.
The project involves building a 1.6 km patch of the road falling in Islamabad. ECSP will prepare the detailed design, estimation, environmental impact assessment (EIA), and bidding documents and supervise the construction.
The CDA had previously called for bids from state-owned firms only, and ECSP was the only company to submit a financial bid for the entire road. However, the CDA later decided to engage them only for the Islamabad portion. The cost for the 1.6 km patch is estimated at Rs78.75 million, which the CDA board has approved.
The project aims to link Margalla Avenue to the M-1 motorway, providing an alternative route for commuters traveling between Islamabad and GT Road.
In 2021, the CDA was directed by the prime minister to acquire and develop the road falling within Islamabad, while Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was asked to work on the portion within Rawalpindi’s limits.
It will be a new entry for Isalamabad and will open new opportunities.

If you want yo complete the project with quality..avoid FWO and NLC
Will it be through proposed B-17 or already built AWT interchange?
I don’t think so B17 or any other society is going to have interchange on motorway. Just marketing gimmicks
Which interchange it will connect AWT or Hakla interchange ?
AWT
What about the remaining part which lies within RDA’s limits?
Can they fix Bari Imam Bridge it will collapse soon in such a bad condition. It is a serious threat to community.
This is a great idea. People will definitely have a nice time while traveling with this road. Chairman CDA is initiating a good future plan for the beneficiaries of this route.
I will request to Chairman CDA that he should speed up the development of sectors like C16, D13 and E12 as early as possible to benefit the people who are waiting since long to construct their homes. Well done, Chairman, may almighty Allah bless you with good health and long life.

The Margalla road will be fruitful only if it is connected with motorway M1…it will not only help to reduce traffic on sarinagar high way but will be as a blessing for people coming from taxila, hassanabdal, attock and all kpk
Benefit of the Margalla Avenue will be twofold when it will be connected to M1 motorway, which is only 3.4 KM apart; it will really help to reduce traffic on Srinagar highway and will be as a blessing for people coming from Peshawar, Swat, Hazara, Attock side. It is requested to CDA Chairman to please complete this project on priority. It is also proposed, if agreed, that to reduce the cost of the project it may connect to already available interchanges on Motorway, like Hakla or AWT/Paswal.
