NHA Approves Competitive Bidding for Solarization of Public Buildings

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways Authority (NHA) has granted permission to the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) to hold a competitive bidding process for the procurement of a solarization project for public buildings.

The NHA Executive Board has assigned the AEDB to manage the bidding process on behalf of the procuring agencies, in accordance with Rule 11 of the PPRA, 2004.

The AEDB will be responsible for obtaining equipment to install rooftop net metering-based solar PV systems at the designated buildings, and the payments will be made by NHA from their own funds.

Once the bidding process is completed, NHA will enter into a contract with the lowest bidder.

It’s worth mentioning that the federal government has instructed all government departments to meet their energy needs through solar energy in a letter dated December 27, 2022.

Furthermore, a framework has also been created for the solarization of public sector buildings to support and expand renewable energy resources in the country.
