OPF Plans to Establish Fast Track Courts for Property Disputes

ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) is undertaking a project to set up dedicated fast-track courts in all provinces of Pakistan.

This project aims to protect properties and quick resolution of property disputes of overseas Pakistanis, according to Dr. Amer Sheikh, the managing director of OPF.

The announcement was made during the Senate Standing Committee meeting on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar, who chaired the meeting, praised the initiative taken by the OPF, terming it a “step in the right direction.”

He emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to address the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis at airports.

The committee was also briefed on the working of the foundation, which includes ensuring the social welfare of emigrants and their families in Pakistan and abroad.

OPF has already established housing societies and educational institutions and has also provided scholarships to the offspring of overseas Pakistanis in science, technology, and art.

In addition to these initiatives, OPF has also set up complaint cells for the timely resolution of problems and has resolved 28,526 complaints against 33,982 registered complaints.

The Chairman of the committee also directed the Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to provide a detailed report regarding all allegations leveled against it in the next two weeks.

Besides, the meeting also discussed efforts made by the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) for securing employment for Pakistanis abroad, and the need to train skilled immigrants in new technology.
