LOWER DIR: Commercial plaza and shop owners have stood against the anti-encroachment campaigns in Timergara Khwar.
Several individuals staged protests against the authorities, claiming their properties had been razed in violation of the court orders.
The affectees, namely, Mushtaq Ali, Inam Khan, Mian Gul Zahoor, Aftab Usmani, and others, have claimed that even though they got a stay order from the court, the authorities launched operations against them.
The protestors also clarified that they had invested millions in building the structures reasonably far from the Khwar (Stream), but the officials still demolished them.
According to Deputy commissioner Zubair Niazi, a total of 257 shops, two plazas, and one hotel built on the watercourse were demolished.
He added that authorities would not step back from the anti-encroachment operations.
