ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Secretary for Railways, Kiran Imran Dar, informed the National Assembly that approximately 952.13 acres of railway land worth Rs. 19,603 million have been recovered during various anti-encroachment operations over the last five years.
As per the details, the secretary stated that the Pakistan Railways had retrieved over 475.21 acres of land in Punjab, 132.49 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 325.93 acres in Sindh, and 18.7 acres in Balochistan.
In light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders in Suo Moto Case Number 11/2111, anti-encroachment operations for the retrieval of encroached Railway land were launched throughout the Railway network, and a Joint Procedure Order was issued to all Divisional Superintendents for the retrieval of Railways land from encroachment, she added.
Responding to a question, Kiran stated that approximately 3,287 acres of land in Punjab, 832 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,180 acres in Sindh, and 687 acres in Balochistan had been encroached upon.
She also stated that anti-encroachment schedules were prepared and sent to all parties involved on a three-month basis in accordance with the joint procedure order.
