PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa evaluated the progress made in five social sector projects in the Malakand Division.
The meeting, chaired by PDMA KP Director General Jannat Gul Afridi, aimed to assess the advancements and make necessary adjustments to implement the schemes successfully.
These projects, which received financial assistance from the Saudi Fund for Development, included:
- Reconstruction of Agriculture Research Institute (ARI) Mingora in Swat
- Rehabilitation of the Veterinary Research and Disease Investigation Centre Balogram in Swat
- Upgradation of the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Hayaserai to Category-D Hospital in Lower Dir, Malakand Division,
- Construction of Thalassemia Department in District Headquarters Batkhela, Malakand
- Construction of a Special Children School with a Special Children Teacher Training School in Swat
During the meeting, a productive discussion occurred between PDMA representatives and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) delegation.
The focus was on enhancing coordination and ensuring the successful implementation of various initiatives, particularly the Disaster Management Information System (DMIS).
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues for increased collaboration between the two organizations. The DG PDMA emphasized the significance of these projects and urged expeditious progress to ensure the highest quality of work.
