Peri-Urban Structure Plan for 2 Tehsils of Rawalpindi Approved

RAWALPINDI: The design for a peri-urban structure to preserve green spaces in the tehsils of Gujar Khan and Kallar Syedan was approved by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday.

As per the details, the structural plan would be given to Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Ali once it has been approved so that he may examine it with the District Planning and Design Committee (DPDC) and notify after consulting with the appropriate parties.

The sources told that the primary goal of the peri-urban structure plan was to designate areas in 2 tehsils of the district for business, housing developments, and educational facilities.

Additionally, it would draw lines in red on green spaces where no structures will be built, according to RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa.

According to him, the plan for Taxila and Kahuta would be created next month once the plan for Gujar Khan and Kallar Syedan has been approved.

He said that RDA had been given the responsibility by the government to create the peri-urban structure plans for four tehsils, while the local government of Rawalpindi had hired the same consultant to create the plans for the 5th tehsil.

Besides, the deputy commissioner will inform the areas designated for business, commerce, housing, and green spaces after addressing the complaints.

He said that after careful deliberation, the RDA governing board chose to support the consultant’s suggestion for a peri-urban structure plan and side development zone for Gujar Khan and Tehsil Kallar Syedan.

After consulting with all parties involved, the Planning and Design Committee (DPDC), presided over by the deputy commissioner, will decide by the Local Government Rules 2020.

The committee believed that the consultant and the director of MP&TE would support the DPDC if it needed their advice in any way.

The governing body, on the other hand, also instructed the RDA’s land use and planning division to consult on the implementation of Rule 45 of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021.
