Peshawar Mayor Unveils City Council’s First Budget

Haji Zubair Ali, Mayor of Peshawar Capital Metropolitan Government, unveiled the city council’s inaugural budget of PKR 4.49 billion, with a specific emphasis on development.

The mayor stated that it was a balanced budget that had been created in collaboration with all councilors. According to the details, PKR 1.5 billion is to be spent on the development of the city in the 2022-23 budget.

It was also revealed that an amount of PKR 60 million was most likely to be earmarked for community development, while PKR 120 million would be utilized for the upkeep and restoration of the city’s eastern and western zones.

Furthermore, PKR 30 million would be spent on the streetlight installation, PKR 114 million on water supply and sanitation, PKR 285 million on the underused property to enhance revenue, and PKR 57 million on waiting spaces and public parks.

In addition, PKR 114 million would be utilized for municipal service and water bowsers, PKR 7.5 million for natural catastrophes, PKR 20 million for electrical transformer maintenance, and PKR 3 million for sports.
