PHATA Approves 3 New Low-cost Housing Schemes for Punjab

LAHORE: Three new low-cost housing schemes were approved by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) on Thursday, including Green Woods Housing Scheme (Forest Town) Rawalpindi, Tariq Sharif Housing Scheme Smart City Rawalpindi, and Minar Housing City Housing Scheme Sheikhupura.

As per the details, in order to develop an efficient monitoring system and to deliver frequent implementation reports each month, the officials of relevant departments resolved to organize monitoring committees.

Furthermore, senior Provincial Minister Main Aslam Iqbal also sought the preparation of an efficient procedure in cooperation with developers to facilitate the provision of housing to the homeless strata.

The senior minister requested comprehensive information regarding the agency’s 172 housing developments across the province and also demanded information on the agreement made with the Akhuwat group to lend money to individuals.

Additionally, Iqbal instructed the agency board to make sure that the approved timelines for low-cost housing developments were followed and made it clear that developers had to plant trees in the designated space in residential schemes with effective water supply and drainage systems.

Besides, he also resolved the financial and administrative issues at the meeting and clarified that 20% of the residential scheme quota had been set aside for the Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
