LAHORE: According to news reports, the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) has committed to building 500 homes for flood victims in South Punjab.
The association would give each family cattle to help them finance their way of life.
In this respect, the PSIM will collaborate with the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI)-Lahore, Akhuwat, Alkhidmat Foundation, and the University of Health Sciences (UHS).
In a media appearance on Sunday, PSIM President Professor Javed Akram said that his organization would build a 100-house community in Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan to assist flood victims in getting back on their feet. The project’s site will be decided upon their next visit, he added.
He further said that the rains had caused millions of people to be displaced throughout numerous Punjabi regions. It would be a significant challenge to rehabilitate such a big number of individuals, and would be accomplished in collaboration with the government and international organizations.
It is crucial to remember that all four provinces of Pakistan have been severely hit by floods. Over 33 million people have been affected by the floods, and according to official and international estimates, many of them have lost their homes and livelihoods.
