Public Outcry as Another Accident Strikes Bhara Kahu Bypass Project

ISLAMABAD: In the most recent in a series of unfortunate accidents related to the Bhara Kahu Bypass and Flyover Project, a section of the burgeoning structure collapsed onto a vehicle yesterday, causing significant damage but sparing the driver and passengers from any serious injury.

According to eyewitnesses, the falling debris shattered the car’s windshield and damaged the front end, leaving the occupants shaken but largely unharmed.

The Bhara Kahu project, which aims to streamline traffic flow in the region, has been a source of controversy since its inception.

Accidents have unfortunately been a recurring theme, with some laborers previously sustaining serious injuries during the construction process.

In an effort to mitigate future accidents, the team resorted to performing a traditional ritual involving the sacrifice of a goat – a cultural practice believed to ward off mishaps.

Despite these incidents, progress had seemed promising with the recent successful launching of all 156 girders, an achievement acknowledged by Noor ul Amin Mengal, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, on his official Twitter account.

However, the latest accident has once again cast a dark shadow over the project, and public criticism has swelled.

The incident has reignited a public outcry, with netizens demanding the government halt the project until it can guarantee public safety.

Many are questioning the design and construction standards being employed, pointing to the repetitive nature of these accidents as a clear indicator of systemic issues within the project.

As of now, the authorities, civic agency, and administration have not issued an official statement regarding the latest incident.

Meanwhile, caution is urged for those traveling through construction areas, with the public growing increasingly wary in the absence of improved safety measures.

In the wake of the current controversy, the future of the Bhara Kahu Bypass and Flyover Project hangs in the balance.

As the public anxiously waits for the authorities’ response, the calls for a thorough and immediate reevaluation of the project continue to grow louder.
