Punjab Excise Department Takes Strong Measures Against Tax Defaulters

LAHORE: The Secretary of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control in Punjab, Masood Mukhtar, has directed the officers of the Excise Department to crack down on tax defaulters and promote transparency in property tax assessments.

During a Directors’ Conference held at the DG office on Tuesday, Masood Mukhtar chaired the meeting along with Director General Excise Muhammad Ali and Additional DG Ahmed Saeed.

Emphasizing the importance of swift action, Mukhtar urged the officials to expedite the resolution of pending court cases and the sealing of commercial properties owned by defaulters.

Furthermore, he also stressed the need to ensure the collection of property tax from all defaulters.

DG Excise, Muhammad Ali, highlighted that more than 90 percent of the recovery target had already been achieved in Punjab.

He assured that the remaining target would be met within the stipulated timeframe.

Additionally, he mentioned that regular impounding operations were being conducted twice a week to recover arrears from vehicles belonging to defaulters.
