LAHORE: The Punjab government has set a new record in tax collection by receiving over Rs.173 billion through e-Pay Punjab, an online platform for government receipts.
According to the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), more than 28 million online transactions have been conducted through the system.
PITB revealed that Rs.17 billion was collected as Token Tax, Rs.17 billion as Property Tax, and over Rs. 3 billion for Vehicle Transfer Tax.
Developed by the PITB in collaboration with the Punjab Finance Department and 1 Link, the e-Pay Punjab app offers online payment of 26 taxes/levies for 11 different departments across the province.
Users can make payments via ATM, internet banking, mobile banking, or by visiting the nearest 1-Link member banks. Telco Agents and mobile wallets can also be used for the payment of taxes.
