Punjab’s Local Govt Secretary Pushes for Quality and Efficiency in Projects

LAHORE: Dr. Irshad Ahmed, the Secretary of Local Government, has underscored the rapid advancement of projects under the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP), guided by the directives and leadership of Punjab’s Chief Minister.

This assertion came to light during a meeting with the Asian Development Bank mission convened at the Civil Secretariat.

Furthermore, the meeting delved into the ongoing projects supported by the Asian Development Bank.

Ahmed emphasized the unwavering commitment to meet project deadlines and ensure the punctual completion of development initiatives in Sialkot and Sahiwal.

Notably, substantial progress has already been achieved, with more than 28 thousand houses in Sahiwal now benefiting from water connections, in addition to the installation of a 462-kilometer-long water supply pipeline.

Moreover, a 135-kilometer-long water supply line has been successfully established in Sialkot.

Dr. Ahmed added that the water supply and sewerage projects, valued at 11 billion rupees in Sahiwal, are designed to cater to the community’s needs for the next four decades.

The sewage laying project on Pakpattan Road Sahiwal is currently in operation round the clock, operating in three shifts.

He also issued directives to the project director and chief engineer to uphold stringent quality standards while meeting project deadlines.

During the meeting, Project Director Hamza Salik and Chief Engineer, PICIIP, provided an extensive overview of the program’s performance.
