LAHORE: The local administration in Punjab introduced an e-registration system for the transfer of land, following the directions of the government.
However, the system has been rejected by the revenue department, stamp vendors, and the general public.
The revenue officers, lawyers, stamp vendors, and the general public showed strong concerns over the system, declaring it as a “new gateway of corruption” and alleging that the land mafia was behind it.
The stakeholders have rejected the system, saying that it puts public property at risk and is vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) Additional Director, Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq claimed that the new system was being introduced to facilitate the public and assured that their concerns would be addressed.
However, the Punjab government will take the final decision on this matter.
