QUETTA: Quetta Division Commissioner, Sohail ur Rehman Baloch, presided over a high-level meeting aimed at tackling illegal construction activities and enforcing building codes in Quetta and its surrounding areas.
During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of resolving the difficulties caused by violations of building regulations and illegal construction activities in the city.
As per the details, the meeting identified the lack of parking spaces in buildings as a significant contributor to the traffic issues plaguing Quetta.
To address this issue, the Urban Planning and Design Committee was formed to oversee all new construction projects in the city, including those with existing construction permits.
Commissioner Baloch urged strict action against individuals or businesses utilizing parking spaces for commercial purposes, emphasizing the need to ensure all new and old buildings utilize their basements exclusively for parking.
Additionally, the Metropolitan Corporation was directed to issue no-objection certificates to buildings after verifying their compliance with all statutory requirements of the building code.
This meeting highlighted the need for a concerted effort to enforce building codes and regulations in Quetta and its surrounding areas.
