Rawalpindi Parks Set for Solar Power Conversion and Renaming Strategy

RAWALPINDI: PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha stated that the authority is facing a financial crisis, requiring Rs119 million annually for salaries and other expenses.

In response, PHA has submitted a business model plan to the Punjab government, aiming to increase its income through self-generated sources instead of seeking a bailout package.

The plan includes proposals such as imposing an entry fee in parks, obtaining a share from development charges in building plans, and seeking a bail-out package.

Furthermore, approval from the provincial government is awaited to proceed with the implementation.

Meanwhile, a meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office, chaired by Punjab caretaker minister for primary and secondary health Dr. Jamal Nasir, discussed PHA’s plan for beautifying the city.

As part of this plan, all parks in Rawalpindi will be renamed after historical personalities, and efforts will be made to convert the parks into solar-powered systems to save electricity.

During the meeting, the caretaker minister emphasized the importance of preserving existing plants while planting new ones and focusing on the city’s beauty and renovation.

He also highlighted the need for professional dealings with firms for advertisement boards, promoting healthy competition among them and ultimately increasing PHA’s revenue.

Dr. Jamal Nasir emphasized the responsibility of the administration in providing a pleasant and healthy environment for citizens, with PHA playing a crucial role in this regard.

He further urged PHA to conduct regular awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to maintain cleanliness, plant saplings in their homes, and care for them.
