Rawalpindi Ring Road on Track for Completion in 1 Year

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha conducted a site visit to the Rawalpindi Ring Road project at Khasaleha Khurd on Sunday to assess the progress of the project.

During the briefing, Mr. Chattha was apprised that the Rawalpindi Ring Road, spanning 38.3 kilometers, would feature five interchanges at Banth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian.

Additionally, the project includes the construction of a railway bridge, five flyovers, and 21 small underpasses.

It’s worth noting that work on a section of the project near Chakri Road, where land was already under the possession of the district administration, had commenced. However, land acquisition for other segments is yet to commence.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Chattha expressed satisfaction with the rapid progress on the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, affirming that it would be completed within a year.

He also announced plans for an industrial zone along the Ring Road, highlighting the economic development and job opportunities it would bring to the region.

The Commissioner stressed that the Rawalpindi Ring Road project would significantly enhance travel facilities for the public, emphasizing its paramount importance for regional development.

Furthermore, he mentioned the presence of revenue department officers in different shifts.

A senior official from the district administration disclosed that an independent validation survey of the land was in progress, and land acquisition would be expedited.

The provincial government is expected to release Rs. 4 billion for the project soon. Besides, the contractor has initiated work on a 10-kilometer area already under administration control.

The divisional administration has urged the contractor to accelerate the project, aligning with the caretaker provincial government’s objective of completing it within a year.
