RDA and District Council to Share Functions in Private Housing Schemes

RAWALPINDI: The governing body of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has given its approval for the RDA to take over the functions of private housing schemes and building control in the entire Rawalpindi district council area.

However, the finalization of record details and the revenue-sharing formula are pending.

The 63rd meeting of the governing body was chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatha.

RDA Director General, Saif Anwar Jappa, and other RDA officials were present, along with the directors who provided a comprehensive presentation on the agenda items.

During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the need to strengthen building control and ensure efficient work.

He also suggested that the lack of staff should be addressed by recruiting officers and inspectors through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

The Commissioner further highlighted the importance of establishing a formula between RDA and the District Council for the sharing of functions in private housing schemes and building control without any delays.

In addition to these decisions, the governing body approved the strengthening of RDA administration through the creation of an additional director general post (BS-20).

Besides, the meeting also authorized the provision of Eid allowances for contractual employees of RDA on an annual basis.

Besides, the governing body approved the inclusion of electricity adjustment charges in domestic and commercial bills.
