RDA Asks FWO to Lower its Bids for Katchery Chowk Remodelling & Extension Project

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has asked the Federal Works Organization (FWO) to reduce the bid amount from PKR 5.30 billion for the Katchery Chowk remodelling and extension project.

The project gets another hurdle in its way as RDA starts negotiation with the FWO.

Earlier, RDA mentioned that the project would cost more than PKR 6 billion and invited Railcop Pvt Ltd, National Logistic Cell, and the Federal Works Organization (FWO) for bidding.

As a result, the FWO stood alone as a final bidder, after the NLC and Railcop stepped back due to some reasons.

The Katchery Chowk project includes 3 flyovers, 3 underpasses, and a widening of the road.

The first flyover will be constructed from the old airport to Saddar, the second one from Saddar to Airport Road and towards Iftikhar Janjua Rod to Katchery Chowk, and the third flyover will route the traffic from Katchery chowk towards Iftikhar Janjua Road.

It is important to mention that only 15 percent of the traffic will be using signals, and the rest of the 85 percent will be signal-free.

The purpose of spending billions of rupees on this remodeling project is to ease the traffic flows and avoid severe traffic jams so that the general public could travel without struggle.
