RAWALPINDI: The auction for a government-owned parking plaza in the garrison city failed again due to a disagreement between the contractors and the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
The parking plaza, located at Fawara Chowk in Raja Bazaar, was supposed to be auctioned off, but the bidders argued that since the starting bid amount had been raised by 10% from the previous year, the parking fee should also be increased by the same ratio.
According to sources, RDA had appointed its collector to handle the collection of parking fees.
At the start of the bidding process, the auction committee, which included director of engineering Amir Rashid, director of estate management Asif Janjua, deputy director of finance Khawaja Arshad Javed, and others, established the prior figure of Rs. 38.8 million as the benchmark.
