RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued a notice to the Apex Group, a marketing company, for allegedly promoting an illegal housing scheme called Mid City Islamabad near the New Islamabad International Airport.
The RDA Director General, Saif Anwar Jappa, stated that advertising such illegal housing schemes without the necessary approval from the RDA violates the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules-2021.
According to the press statement released by the RDA, Jappa emphasized that a housing project cannot be declared approved or legal unless it has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the RDA.
The marketing activities of the Apex Group and the promotion of this unauthorized project mislead the general public into believing that the project is already approved and legal.
Jappa warned the advertising company to cease its involvement in this illegal activity, which deceives people who invest their hard-earned money in these unapproved and fraudulent housing societies based on misleading advertisements.
To prevent further deception and monetary losses to the public, the RDA’s Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) branch has been directed to remove all materials related to illegal schemes.
Jappa also highlighted that the legal status of housing projects can be easily verified through the RDA website or by contacting the MP&TE Directorate of RDA directly.
According to officials, the RDA reserves the right to take legal action against the Apex Group and its organizations under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021, if they fail to comply with the regulations.
