RDA Decides to Carry Out Third-Party Verification Before Finalizing Ring Road’s Route

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to carry out third-party verification before finalizing the Rawalpindi Ring Road’s (RRR) route.

Details indicate that the RDA will restart development on two significant projects, the Rawal Expressway and Flood Channel.

According to RDA official, federal government has requested the authority to perform verification for selecting one of the current alignments of the RRR project.

The government will choose the ultimate RRR route after taking opinions from consulting firms.

According to reports, the government has scrapped the previous alignment and designed a new one that spans 38 kilometers from Rawat to Motorway.

The official also added that an authority had decided not to purchase property near Leh Nullah.

He further stated that a two-way road and nullah were being built under the direction of the government. The sewage line and the road on each side are the main concerns.

Additionally, the 22-kilometer signal-free segment between Katchery Chowk and Motorway Chowk will be included in the upcoming fiscal year. Under this project, underpasses and a flyover will be built.

Another official stated that Punjab Planning and Development Board received the project’s PC-1.

He added that there were also plans for a metro-style bus to travel the route.

While speaking about the project, Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq said that the underpasses would be constructed in front of GHQ chow, Military Chowk, Pearl Continental Hotel chowk and GPO chowk, whereas, a flyover would be set up in front of the race course ground.
