RDA Demolishes Office of Another Illegal Housing Project in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Under the orders of Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, the Enforcement Squad of RDA has executed an operation against an unauthorized housing project named Al-Qaim Mansion.

Located in Mouza Adyala on Adyala Road, Rawalpindi, the project’s site office has been sealed and demolished, according to a spokesperson for the RDA.

The spokesperson detailed that the Enforcement Squad is intensifying its efforts to combat illegal housing projects, with notices being issued to Mr. Aamir Shahzad, the proprietor of the Al-Qaim Mansion, under section 39, 12 (5) of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and section 38 of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with local police from Sadar Beroni police station and included key RDA personnel, such as the Assistant Director Building Control, Deputy Incharge, and Superintendent Scheme.

Mr. Shahzad had been operating the illegal housing scheme’s site office in flagrant violation of established rules, leading to the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) against him. The FIR, numbered 1653/2021, has been registered at the Sadar Beroni police station.

In light of these events, the RDA’s Director General is urging the public to refrain from investing in illegal and unauthorized housing schemes that the RDA has deemed unlawful.

Investors can verify the status of these projects on the RDA website, www.rda.gop.pk, to avoid potential losses for which they will be held accountable.

Further instructions from the DG have directed the MP&TE Directorate to take a hard stance against such illegal and unauthorized housing projects. This includes their development, the construction of booking and site offices, and any encroachments, all of which should be handled without fear or favor.

The RDA has also appealed to key service providers, including the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL), and PTCL, not to provide services to these unauthorized housing schemes, as they have been deemed illegal.
