RDA Projects Experience Significant Delays

RAWALPINDI: According to reports, RDA’s lack of a policy-making forum and governing body has resulted in a significant lag in project implementation.

The pace of the development projects has slowed due to changes in the province’s governing bodies.

Planning for new projects has been suspended, and there has been zero progress in projects that are now waiting to be implemented.

The fiscal budget for the current year has been tentatively authorized by the organization’s financial sub-committee but is now disapproved due to RDA’s lack of a governing body, say the sources.

Sources claim that numerous RDA megaprojects, including the RDA employee’s housing society, have also been put on hold under the direction of a new director-general.

Furthermore, despite being the main executing agency, the authority has struggled to move large development projects forward.

Alongside, there are still unfinished projects as well including the Rawalpindi Ring Road, the Leh Expressway, the renovation and expansion of Kachehri Chowk, and the renovation and extension of Defence Chowk.
