RDA Requires NOC from WASA for Land-Use Conversion

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has made it mandatory to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for converting residential plots into commercial ones.

WASA Rawalpindi has requested information on all approved commercial building plans and residential-to-commercial conversions without WASA’s NOCs and has asked defaulters to pay the NOC fees, water charges, and other dues.

The RDA has also approved the building plans for high-rise and commercial buildings within its own jurisdiction and that of the Municipal Corporation and District Council.

According to RDA DG Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, the development of commercial high-rises, markets, and residential land converted to commercial use without WASA’s NOCs has adversely affected the water supply and sewerage network of the agency.

He believes that expanding the capacity of the water and sewerage network is necessary to accommodate the new developments, as they are placing a burden on the existing infrastructure and causing problems for the public.
