RDA Seals Eight Properties in Civil Lines for Unauthorized Commercial Use

RAWALPINDI: Acting on the instructions of the Director General (DG) of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, the RDA enforcement team cracked down on the illegal commercial utilization of residential buildings on Saturday. As a result, eight properties located in the Civil Lines area were sealed.

The RDA spokesperson informed that the operation targeted properties on plot number 8 and plot number B-10 in Civil Lines. The enforcement action was led by the Deputy Director of Building Control, Assistant Director of Building Control/ Incharge Enforcement Squad, Building Superintendent, and Building Inspectors. They executed the operation under the provisions of section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976.

It was highlighted that prior notices had been dispatched to the property owners, warning them of their violations. The sealed properties had breached the approved plans, the PDC Act 1976, and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020. These properties had been transformed into commercial establishments without obtaining the necessary approvals and No Objection Certificates.

The RDA remains committed to ensuring that city regulations are upheld and will continue to take action against those flouting the rules.
