Record Tax Revenue of Rs. 128 Billion Collected through E-Pay Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government has so far received over Rs. 128 billion in tax revenue through e-Pay Punjab, an online platform for collecting government taxes.

As per the sources, this was revealed at a progress review meeting presided over by the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Syed Bilal Haider, who was briefed by Director General IT Operations Faisal Yousaf and his team.

The chairman of PITB noted that the e-Pay Punjab App had significantly made it easier for citizens to pay their taxes online while on the go or at home.

The meeting’s attendees were informed that over 2.5 million people had downloaded the app so far, while online transactions through e-Pay Punjab had surpassed the 23.4 million mark.

Furthermore, the Punjab government has so far received 78 billion rupees in sales tax, 15.89 billion rupees in token tax, 15.52 billion rupees in property tax, 5.40 billion rupees in traffic challan, and more than 340 million in lieu of e-challan.

Besides, the e-Pay Punjab App offers online payment of 24 taxes and levies for 11 distinct departments, while the payments can be made via ATM, internet banking, mobile phone banking, or in person by visiting the 1-Link member banks.

It is relevant to note here that the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in association with the Punjab Finance Department and One Link, has created the E-Pay Punjab App while JazzCash, Easypaisa, UPaisa, and other microfinance institutions are additional options linked with the e-Pay app to pay the taxes.
