KARACHI: During a cabinet meeting, Revenue Minister Makhdoom Mahboob Zaman shared that the houses that collapsed due to heavy rains and floods were built on government land.
Following the directives of the chief minister, the Board of Revenue conducted an assessment and determined that the plots of these collapsed houses could be regularized under various schemes and acts, including the Gothabad Scheme, Gothabad Housing program, regularisation of the village program, and the Katchi Abadis Act.
Taking this into consideration, the cabinet decided to regularize the affected houses based on their respective categories.
This step aims to enable the beneficiaries to receive financial assistance for rebuilding their homes through the ongoing Peoples Housing Programme.
In response, CM Shah instructed the chief secretary to issue an order to the relevant deputy commissioners, urging them to expedite the regularisation process for the plots as soon as possible.
He added that this would ensure that the affected individuals can avail the benefits promptly.
