Resumption of Long-Awaited Ring Road Project in Punjab to Ease Traffic Woes

LAHORE: The caretaker government of Punjab has announced the revival of the long-pending Ring Road (southern loop-3) project after a hiatus of 12 years, with a determined goal of completing the endeavor by December 31.

Highlighting the significance of this move, caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the project’s recommencement aims to enhance transportation facilities for the people.

He made these remarks during an on-site visit to the project location near Multan Road Maraka, where he inspected the ongoing work.

Expressing optimism about the project’s timeline, the chief minister affirmed that the delays encountered in the past, owing to legal disputes, have now been resolved.

He attributed these setbacks to the previously hindered progress, but with the obstacles out of the way, the project is set to make steady headway toward completion.

With the ambitious completion of this initiative, significant relief from traffic congestion is anticipated for individuals commuting from southern Punjab to Lahore.

This, in turn, is expected to alleviate the burden on Thokar and Canal Road. Additionally, the benefits extend to residents of housing schemes along Multan Road.

  1. Alright it’s a good initiative to complete the Lahore ring road but the most important project being delayed for almost 40 years now is the project of
Rawalpindi bypass. God knows when will be it initiated?

    1. Chief ministers of Punjab are always act like they are Chief ministers of Lahore.
      🙂

    2. Why they are not completing the segment from Gulshan Ravi to Motoeway Babu Sabu? All day traffic jam is a daily routine.

  2. it’s a good news for people living and traveling to and from lahore but the closest area of Lahore Saggian Bridge and its srrounding is over looked since 1999 the basic fecilities like infrastructure electrification is not passed government should pay special attention on this area also

  3. Why they are not starting construction of Babu Sabu Motorway Interchange to Gulshan Ravi. All day traffic jam is a daily routine here.

    1. What about the more demanding Rawalpindi ring road !?. Mr Naqvi should act ASAP as traffic in Rawalpindi is a mess.

  4. Please give attention to Rawalpindi ring road. This is an 20 year old project and need special interest of Chief Minister

  5. Dear CM,
Rawalpindi Ring Road RRR is also need your earnest attention.
Hope on the very last days of your government you can also give your high attention to this project.

  6. Completing the Lahore Ring Road is indeed a positive initiative. However, a significant concern remains the prolonged delay of the Haroonabad Bahawalnagar project, which has been pending for nearly four decades. It is uncertain when this crucial project will finally be initiated.

  7. Please pay some attention for Rawalpindi Ring road. It’s the serious requirement of the people of Rawalpindi

  8. From Lahore Airport there is no bus service
There must be Green line , Blue line,or bus/🚆 🚂 service

  9. Every government is serious about Lahore development it’s good but Rawalpindi/ Islamabad ring road is awaited since long and is very necessary to avoid traffic congestion in twin cities. It will also reduce distance for Peshawar commuters.
Perhaps reason to prioritise Lahore is number of National Assembly/ Provençal assemblies seats therefore not being considered on merit .

    1. Yes fully supported as Rawalpindi ring road project wud ease down congestions inside Rawalpindi and Islamabad so Govt should take early decision about Rawalpindi Ring road project.

  10. CM Mohsin sb really a nice honest person. Wish he will continue this job. Regarding pending projects etc … new government will see what to do.

  11. Punjab Govt should start Rawalpindi Ring road project soonest, pl consider earliest to reduce congestion and time.

  12. Funds of Punjab only for Lahore. Chief Minister Punjab means only Chief Minister of Lahore. Faisalabad city gives Taxes and Taxes money uses in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad.

  13. Is it the final part of ring road? And kindly confirm the total length of ring road Lahore after completion of all parts

  14. No industrial zone started in south punjab area. Decentralization is required to ensure development at each area and refurbishment of existing infrastructure is essential.

  15. No jealousy on completion of this project, but the GT Rawalpindi is much over burden. Swan Bridge was damaged ( every one knows how this important bridge was damaged) one week before Eid ul Fiter, but no urgency showed by the concerned authorities so far, it seems that they are enjoying the difficulties faced by the public.
On the other hand no development to construct the ring road so far.
