SBCA Demolishes Under-Construction Buildings Linked to PTI’s Karachi Leadership

KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has carried out demolitions of under-construction buildings owned by prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members in Karachi.

As per the details, one of the buildings belonged to PTI MPA Firdous Shamim Naqvi and was situated on the Super Highway.

Another property demolished was a farmhouse in Gadap Town owned by Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly and also a PTI member.

Additionally, a property owned by PTI MPA Khurram Sher Zaman in Sharfabad near Bahadurabad was also demolished.

The SBCA officials stated that Naqvi’s under-construction building was intended for residential purposes. However, they deemed the project illegal and proceeded to demolish its walls.

According to the officials, Sheikh’s farmhouse was also constructed illegally on an amenity plot. While some structures were demolished last year, the remaining ones were razed recently.

The officials clarified that the authority had published an advertisement in newspapers on May 9, warning against illegal constructions in the city.

Regarding Zaman’s property in Sharfabad, it had already been vacated six months ago, but the SBCA still chose to demolish it.

It should be noted that Naqvi has been transferred to Sukkur jail after his arrest following the violence on May 9, during which government and military installations were attacked.

Several prominent PTI leaders in Karachi, including Ali Zaidi and Imran Ismail, have also been detained for their alleged involvement in the subsequent vandalism that occurred after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a corruption case.
