SC’s One-Man Commission Orders Immediate Retrieving of Occupied Properties

ISLAMABAD: The One-Man Commission on Minority Rights of the Supreme Court has expressed grave concerns regarding the sluggish response to the findings of the Forensic Audit Report 2021–2022 of the properties of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

In order to rapidly recover illegally occupied properties, the OMC instructed ETPB and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to set up an efficient inter-agency coordination mechanism.

The first review meeting considered the progress made against the irregularities and malpractices identified through the audit, presided over by OMC Chairman Dr. Shoaib Suddle.

According to reports, the total amount related to the audit report for the ETPB’s 7,143 urban properties comes to a staggering Rs. 77.597 billion.

Furthermore, it was decided to hold meetings each month to review progress of illegally occupied agricultural and urban properties, collection of unpaid rent, and speeding up the resolution of pending court cases.

The Supreme Court’s orders regarding the swift implementation of FAR 2021–22 were direly stressed by the OMC.

The OMC also ordered the reconstruction and verification by the Federal Audit of the burned records from the Nankana Sahib office, as well as presentation of a copy of the report on the “Geo Tagging” of ETPB properties.
