Senate Committee Demands Action on Illegal Construction in Govt Allotted Accommodations

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works has demanded detailed information on illegal construction on government allotted accommodation and has directed strict action against encroachers.

The committee meeting, chaired by Senator Haji Hidayatullah, reviewed progress related to the tendering process to restart construction work in Kashmir Avenue Apartments Sector G-13 and permission to transfer the Kashmir Avenue Apartments.

According to the committee, the transfer of the Kashmir Avenue (G-13) apartment project had been opened subject to clearance of all outstanding installments payable at the time of the transfer of apartments.

Additionally, the committee emphasized the need for timely possession of the apartments and transparency in the retendering process.

The committee also reviewed the matter of restarting the Residency Housing Project in Peshawar by PHAF.

Besides, the committee has recommended a visit to the site of the project and a meeting with the Chief Secretary to expedite progress on this project.

Furthermore, the meeting was attended by several senators and senior officers of the Ministry of Housing and Works along with its attached departments and agencies.
