ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Communications convened on Monday to address various issues, including irregularities in contract awards under Public Private Partnership (PPP) and the status of the Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway Project.
As per the details, the committee was informed that the project was in its premature stages, and three bids were received, with TECHNO-MATRACON leading in terms of financial proposal.
The meeting also covered the National Highway (N-25) Karachi-Quetta-Chaman project, which was deemed crucial from several perspectives, including trade and road safety.
The committee recommended prioritizing the project and was briefed on the NHA’s plan to dualize and rehabilitate the entire N-25, which spans 790 km across different sections.
The committee inquired about the slow progression of the Khuzdar-Kuchlak section of N-25.
It has been shared that the Senate committee also discussed the recruitment rules and the lack of call letters issued by DG Post Services.
Furthermore, a number of officials including senators Shamim Afridi, Danesh Kumar, Hafiz Abdul Karim, Umer Farooq, Kamil Ali Agha, and Saifuallah Abro attended the meeting.
