SHC Directs DC West and Anti-Encroachment Cell to Retrieve State Land in Surjani Town

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has instructed the District West Deputy Commissioner and Anti-Encroachment Department to take action against fake villages/goths established in Surjani Town.

While hearing a petition, the SHC bench led by Justice Nadeem Akhter directed the government officials to retrieve the state land from encroachers.

The petitioners shared the state land captured by the land grabbers had established illegal villages/goths that include Gulshan e Surjani, Abbasi, Hassan Brohi, Meer Khan, Kaaj Brohi, and Arzi Brohi.

As per the details, the SHC had previously ordered the concerned authorities to take strict action against the encroachers, however they were unable to comply with the court order.

The bench asked Karachi Development Authority why they had failed to remove the encroachments despite the court orders.

The petitioners disclosed that government officials were also involved in these encroachments; therefore, the department has failed to take action and retrieve the state land.

Furthermore, the SHC bench asked the authorities to submit a compliance report by 21st December.
