SHC Directs Sindh Govt and MDA to Remove Encroachments from Shah Latif Town

KARACHI: The Sindh government and Malir Development Authority (MDA) have been ordered by the Sindh High Court (SHC) to remove encroachments from the Shah Latif town area and submit a compliance report.

As per the details, a division bench of the SHC led by Justice Nadeem Akhtar noted that court directives regarding the clearance of encroachments had not been followed while hearing an encroachment case in Shah Latif Town Sector 18.

Furthermore, an advisor to the chief secretary replied that he had presided over a meeting about the clearance of encroachments and requested for 1-month time to put the decisions made at the meeting into action.

The provincial government and MDA were ordered by the high court to provide a compliance report about the clearance of encroachments within three weeks.

Besides, the petitioner and others claimed that while they had been given plots in Shah Latif Town Sector 18, land grabbers had taken possession of them without permission.

They also argued that neither the encroachments from the petitioners’ plots nor any substitute plots against the occupied property had been provided by the MDA.
