KARACHI: A petition has been filed against encroachment on a playground in Baldia Town, resulting in the Sindh High Court (SHC) issuing notices to concerned provincial and local government authorities.
The court has directed these officials to prevent any further illegal construction or encroachment on the land until March 16.
The petitioner, Amir Butt, had filed a grievance last year over illegal encroachment on a piece of government land in Sector 4, Nai Abadi, Saeedabad, Balida Town.
The area’s land mafia has attempted to encroach upon the land by raising illegal constructions despite the petitioner’s efforts to approach relevant authorities for the removal of the encroachment.
The land in question has long been disputed, with some officials and the land mafia attempting to sell it illegally.
Therefore, the petitioner has requested directives for the removal of all encroachments and the arrest of illegal occupants of the government land.
He also seeks to cancel any documents or leases that have been issued illegally by any authority in respect of the land.
It is important to note that the court has issued pre-admission notices to the respondents, and the advocate general Sindh and directed them to file their replies and comments by March 16.
Until then, official respondents have been instructed to ensure that the land is not encroached upon and that no illegal or unauthorized construction is allowed on it.
