Sindh Govt to Solve Karachi Press Club’s Housing Scheme Issues

KARACHI: Sharjeel Inam Memon, Minister of Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sindh, announced the formation of a coordination committee between the Malir Development Authority (MDA) and Lyari Development Authority (LDA) to address the issues related to the housing schemes of the Karachi Press Club (KPC).

The committee, comprising key officials and representatives, will work towards resolving the problems faced by KPC members and facilitating their resettlement.

Memon expressed the government’s commitment to initiating the resettlement process promptly and mentioned that a summary for the allocation of plots to 700 new KPC members has been submitted.

He also highlighted the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) efforts in protecting journalists’ rights through legislation and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

President of the Karachi Press Club, Saeed Sarbazi, stated that a productive meeting was held, addressing the MDA Scheme Tesar Town plot payments and issuing orders for the demarcation of Block 68 plots.

Memon reiterated the government’s support for media houses and journalists, acknowledging the economic challenges they face.

He assured that discussions were underway with the Chief Minister of Sindh to increase grants for journalists.

Regarding political rivals and negative campaigns, Memon emphasized the PPP’s commitment to democratic values and expressed a message of love and reconciliation.

Memon criticized the PTI, highlighting their conduct in recent local bodies’ elections and their alleged harm to the country.

Besides, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed optimism for a prosperous Karachi, with numerous projects worth billions of rupees.
